The history of the Kartäuserhof

Our winery was built in 1380 as a harvesting farm of the Kartause Aggsbach, bearing the name Kartäuserhof.

In 1862, the Stierschneider family took over the Kartäuserhof. The business was expanded over 3 generations to the current production size of around 100,000 bottles.

The vineyards are located in south-facing terraced sites of the Achleiten, Klaus, Weitenberg, Hinterkirchen, Steinriegl and Seiberer vineyards.

Company management

Karl is responsible for all tractor work, in addition he is cellar master at the winery and manages the entire coordination within the business. Of course, he is also present at wine tastings and presentations and, together with Rikki, takes care of the contact management of our gastronomy and hotel businesses as well as wine merchants and wine shops.

Rikki Maderthaner

Sales management and office administration

Rikki is mainly responsible for direct customer contact, she does tastings, wine sales as well as various tastings and labelling. She is also responsible for sending our wines and managing presentations and wine tastings.

Jakob Stierschneider

junior manager

Jakob assists in all areas of the business, including work in the vineyard, cellar and presentations, and sometimes also the farm sales and tastings.
